The Information Technology on USP

In USP the IT area is understood as an ensemble of information services that provide support to the storage, retrieve, distribution, treatment and analysis of the data represented in digital midia. From december, 3rd, 2014 up to this date the following structure is ruling:

  • Deliberative  Council for the IT area on USP
  • Office of Information Technology (STI)
  • Managerial Council for IT
  • Information Technology  Centers of São Paulo (CeTI-SP), São Carlos (CeTI-SC), Ribeirão Preto (CeTI-RP) and “Luiz de Queiroz” (CeTI-LQ), in Piracicaba;
  • Nucleous of Bauru



The Deliberative Council for the IT area  is responsible for:

the definition of goals and the strategic planning of IT actions for USP, as a management tool for to enable and support the target activities of the USP’s Pluriannual Plan approval; The approval of the Managerial Council report and the annual forwarding of this report to the University Council


The Office of Information Technology (STI) is responsible for:

  • coordination of IT activities, in the scope of the University as a whole



The IT Managerial Council is responsible for:

  • design, develop, implant and maintain all common interest activities related to Information Technology in the University, adherent to the estabilished goals and standards for software development, as defined by the Deliberative Council for USP’s IT
  • evaluate, propose and standardize procedures for the execution of the goal purposed by Deliberative Council for USP’s IT
  • delivery of annual reports to the Deliberative Council for USP’s IT
  • distribution and follow-up of the IT activities that are developed in the IT Centers, keeping in mind the relative capacities and the execution specificities, as well as the optimization of human and financial resources of each IT Center



It is implied to the Technology Centers:

  • the coordination of the execution of the local IT operational activities;
  • to listen, evaluate and document the IT demands in their respective regional scopes;
  • to forward the IT demands in their respective regional scope to the IT Management Council, for the decision of adequate measures
